Twelve cushions, a small armchair and the shelf of books we read most at story time. Here is how we built it, and why it is at the back of the shop.
For years story time happened wherever there was room. This autumn we moved the poetry to the front and gave the back of the shop to the cushions.
Why at the back
Children walk past every shelf on the way, and they always stop at one. By the time they reach the cushions, they have chosen what they want us to read.
What is in it
Twelve cushions in four colours, one armchair for the reader, and a low shelf of our most-read story time books, so anyone can pick one up.
Hoo! I'm Pip, the paper owl. Ask me for a book for a 5-year-old who loves boats, or when story time is.
