Five books for the last light

The bedtime books we give to parents who are tired of reading the same one every night, from board books to first chapters.

A paper-craft bedside table with a stack of picture books, a small lamp, a knitted teddy and a cup of cocoa at night

Every week a parent asks us for a bedtime book that is not the one they have read four hundred times. These are the five we hand over most.

  • Ten Snails to Bedtime, for the youngest: counting down to sleep.
  • The Owl Who Lost Her Hoot, the one we read at story time most.
  • Pip and the Paper Boat, for a gentle adventure.
  • The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cat, a chapter a night.
  • The Map of Small Places, for readers who read alone with a torch.

Come in and we will add a sixth, picked for your child.
